I’m turning 45 🎂 and Dental Assisting & Beyond turns 5 — and after all these years in clinics, one thing is still painfully consistent:
Most clinic problems aren’t people problems.
They’re system failures.
When clinics get busy (and they always do), the first things to slip aren’t the big procedures —
it’s the everyday workflows:
Room wipe-downs, set-ups, handovers, and who’s responsible for what.
And if something as basic as wiping down a clinical room is done differently depending on who’s assisting, you don’t have a system.

Wiping down a clinical room after a patient is not a “cleaning task”.
It’s a clinical safety system — and it should look the same in every room, with every team member, every time.
IF:
- People wipe down in a different order

Steps are skipped when it’s busy

Everyone does it “their own way”
Then the issue isn’t effort or attitude — it’s the lack of a written, trained system.
Think McDonald’s cheeseburger logic:
Same steps. Same order. Same outcome.
Clinical rooms should work the same way.
